4 generations in the workplace: Traditionalists, Boomers, Gen X, and Gen Y and each generation has a different view of rewards and recognition (feedback). It focuses on key areas for management success and effective employee engagement as well as skills for improved effectiveness, communication, and leadership.

· The difference between a reward and recognition · The definition of motivation and how motivating employees can improve their performance · How each generation views rewards, recognition, and what each generation wants from Rewards and Recognition program and hoe to generational "similarities" to improve employee engagement and participation on team to support Rewards and Recognition Program · 5 Key Essentials for Rewards and Recognition program

Valerie Pelan, MBA, PCC, is a Certified Executive and Leadership Coach and Executive Trainer. Valerie's 20+ years of management experience at AT&T and EDS gives her a unique perspective to understand business challenges facing leaders, managers, and employees in today's workplace. She is Certified by the International Coaching Federation Certification and the UTD Graduate School of Management, Executive and Professional Coaching Certification. Valerie has a MBA in Economics and her organization, Integrated Focus, is a Certified Woman Owned Business. |
SHRM Scholarships
$100,000 in SHRM Foundation Scholarships Await Applicants
As a result, the 2010 SHRM Foundation scholarship program for HR professionals, underwritten by the J. J. Keller Foundation, is offering the following awards to SHRM members:
· 20 Academic Scholarships: $2,000 each (increased from $1,375 in 2009)
· 80 Certification Scholarships: $750 each (increased from 60 awards in 2009)
SHRM Members may apply online. The application deadline is July 15, 2010.
Eligibility: Professional, general or associate SHRM members pursuing a college degree or professional HR certification are eligible to apply. Please note that student members are not eligible for this particular scholarship but the application period for the Student Scholarship program will be open as of May 1, 2010.

HRCI New Website

The new web site contains all the best features of the old web site along with some new features our users asked for. Here is a summary of what you will be seeing during your first visit to our new web site:
· A resource library offering one-stop compilation of downloadable materials needed to apply for the certification exams, recertification, and Pre-Approved Provider programs. · Site search functionality that allows visitors to find information in an efficient and timely manner. · New related linkssection on each page for easy access to other areas that house pertinent content and provide visitors with a bigger-picture view without requiring further searching. · Story billboards where visitors will find announcements on hosted webinars, Virtual Chats, important notices, testimonials, etc. · Log in to one single location no matter who you are. The new login section is on the right-hand margin of every page of the web site, and once logged in, select "Member Homepage" from login area to access the online services needed. Once logged in, all the features in your online profile have remained the same. You will only find that the look has changed. · A blog section that is designed to highlight hot topics pertaining to certification and other related subjects and allow for our certified HR professionals to connect with one another. · A calendar of events includes announcements of important and/or up-and-coming events and deadlines.
