The Society for Human Resource Management -Texas State Council (SHRM-TSC), Texas Employer Support for the Guard and Reserve (ESGR), and Texas A&M Health Science Center - Tex Vet has joined together as strategic partners on veterans' employment issues. This coalition is sponsoring a workshop / symposium series on "Building Veteran Human Capital for Texas Employers". This one day event is especially designed for HR Managers, Business Executives, and staffing/recruiting professionals to learn best practices from an array of employer and government experts on how to build veteran, military spouse, wounded warrior, reservist, and National Guard human capital for their respective companies or organizations. Did you know that we have more than 92,000 veterans in Texas with an unemployment rate of approximately 23% statewide? We can improve this disturbing employment statistic and advance veteran workforce readiness if we actively work together. The first workshop / symposium will be held September 24, 2010 at the Hilton DFW Lakes in Grapevine,Texas. This full day event will include highlights on state and national veteran employment programs and challenges and discussions that will address employer best practices.
