Benefits of MCHRA Membership



Types of MCHRA Membership

  • Professional Membership – limited to those individuals who are (a) engaged in the profession of HR management at the exempt level; (b) certified by HRCI; (c) faculty members holding an assistant, associate or full professor rank in HR management or any of its specialized functions at an accredited college or university and have at least three years of experience at this level of teaching; (d) full-time consultants with at least three years experience in the field of HR management e) full-time attorneys with at least three years experience in counseling and advising clients on matters relating to the human resource profession. The rights and privileges of Professional Members include the right to cast one vote in all matters brought before a vote, and to hold office in the Association.
  • Associate Membership –includes those individuals who are in nonexempt, human resource positions or whose responsibilities include human resource administration, regardless of exemption. Associate Members may vote, but may not hold elected office in the Association. Nothing, however, shall bar the appointment to a non-related position or other areas of service within the Association.
  • Affiliate Membership - includes those individuals who do not meet the professional or associate member category, but who demonstrate a bona fide interest in HR management and the purposes of the MCHRA. Affiliate Members shall not be entitled to vote or hold elected office in the Association. Nothing, however, shall bar the appointment to a non-related position or other areas of service within the Association.  No more than one individual per business may be an Affiliate Member, and no more than fifteen percent (15%) of the total Mid-Cities chapter membership at the end of the preceding year shall be comprised of associate members. 
  • Student Membership  -   Eligibility for Student Membership includes those individuals who are enrolled at the college or university level and maintain full-time undergraduate (12 or more credit hours) or graduate student (9 or more credit hours) and is not employed or working on a full time basis in a HR position.  Student members do not have voting rights nor are they eligible to hold elected office in the Association  To apply for student membership please submit along with your application, proof of full-time enrollment or verification from your college or university adviser of your full-time enrollment.  
  • Members in Job Transition -   Transitional membership (TM) is available to those individuals who are unemployed at the time of their application for membership. To qualify for TM you must have been a professional member in good standing the prior year.  The annual membership fee is waived for one calendar year.  The TM member will pay the member rate for membership meetings and chapter events.  Applications for TM are reviewed by the executive committee and must be approved prior the member using the TM designation and rate. This class of membership shall be entitled to all privileges of membership including the right to vote or hold office.
