    Basic FunctionUnder the direction of the Zone HR Director, the Field HR Generalist is responsible for assisting in managing human resource activity within the Zone, comprised of over 150 retail stores in the Western US.  Duties include execution and administration of the Company’s human resource initiatives including team member relations, investigations, staffing, succession planning, training, management development, performance management, regulatory compliance, and communication of necessary information to all levels of the field.

    Primary Responsibilities:

    1. Team Member Relations/Performance Management
      • Supports Team Members and Field/Store Leadership with Team Member Relations, escalations from Team Member Services, The Network (Hotline) and investigations.
      • Supports Open Door policy and culture of inclusion.
      • Assists Field/Store Leadership with performance management including Recognition, Coaching, PDR and PIPs support/followup.
    2. Succession Planning - assists in planning and facilitating calls/meetings throughout the year and maintains succession planning data/reports.    
    3. HR Operations Process and Administration
      • Leaves of Absence and Workers Comp - supports Team Members and Field/Store Leadership with process and escalations.
      • Engagement Survey - assists with communication, execution, followup, facilitation of survey and Zone/District calls.
      • Training, Development and Leadership - supports developmental programs as needed, facilitates HiPo Store Manager Program/Calls, assists Team Members and Field/Store Leadership with development.
    4. Assists to perform tasks and drive execution of:
      • Performance Appraisals/Merit/Bonus and Key Position Planning/Calibration
      • Volume Re-Classification
      • Peak Season Ramp Up/Ramp Down, etc.
    5. Reporting
      • Conducts Exit Interviews; maintains and analyzes exit interview statistics and provides feedback.
    6. Other Duties as Assigned (include but not limited to)
      • Customer Service - drive a support culture and service to stores through daily interactions with Team Members. Timely/same day response to calls/emails, provide ETA on problem resolution and updates until resolved, own the questions and issues we receive.
      • Ensure and assist with compliance and communication of Federal/State/local employment and labor laws, postings, minimum wage/sick leave, etc.
      • Partner in preparing communication and speaking on HR/Staffing/Etc topics on various Zone conference calls and breakouts
      • Support stores with Unemployment Claims as needed
      • General research - OracleHR, PeopleAnswers, WorkSmart, benchmarking and other requests
      • Cross train with Zone Recruiter, cover as needed
      • Travel as needed in Western US and to company meetings in DFW, TX (10-20%)

    Job Requirements

    • Strong leadership, problem solving/decision making skills 
    • Takes initiative and embraces changing priorities, with ability to handle heavy workload
    • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with Team Members at all levels
    • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Visio), HRIS systems (Oracle or PeopleSoft preferred) and Talent Management Systems (PeopleAnswers preferred).
    • Experience handling heavy volume of Team Member relations and investigations at retail/store level.
    • Requires working standard business hours Monday through Friday. Evening, weekend work is required as job duties/business demands.

    Educational Requirements

    • Bachelor’s Degree preferred. 
    • PHR/SPHR/SHRM-CP a plus.
    • Five plus years experience in Human Resources/Generalist role
    • Working knowledge of general human resource policies and procedures such as Team Member relations, compensation, benefits and employment/labor laws.
