  Summary

  This session explores why leaders and teams win, what sets these leaders apart, and how HR professionals are mirrors for the organizations they serve. We’ll explore that championship teams are not built on talent alone, rather through leadership, emotional control, accountability and culture. HR leaders will gain actionable strategies to lead themselves first, and create stronger, and healthier workplace cultures.

  Objectives

  After attending this session, participants will be able to:

  • Understand how leadership behavior directly influences workplace culture, morale, accountability, and retention.
  • Recognize the connection between emotional intelligence, self-awareness, and leadership effectiveness under pressure.
  • Identify common leadership traps that create burnout, disengagement, confusion, and operational fatigue.
  • Learn how emotional reactions, communication style, and consistency shape team trust and performance.
  • Explore practical techniques for leading with composure during high-pressure situations.

  
  

  About the Speaker - Alan Walsh

  

  With over two decades of leadership in the multifamily industry, Alan Walsh specializes in the intersection of culture and commerce. Currently leading People Operations at Advenir Azora, as the Chief People and Culture Officer, Alan moves beyond HR theory to create workplaces built on accountability, clarity, and "white glove" internal service. From culture transformation to strategic coaching, his work is defined by a commitment to turning people-first strategies into measurable business impact.   Building Your HR Brand and Network

  HR professionals are asked to wear many hats, and now we're being told we need to build our personal brand, too? If the thought of adding another item to your already long to-do list makes you want to take a nap instead, you'll be glad to know that you already have a brand. The question is whether you're intentionally shaping it and using it to your advantage.

  In this interactive session, participants will learn how to identify and define their professional brand and leverage it to support career growth, increase influence, and strengthen professional relationships. We'll explore practical strategies for enhancing visibility, expanding professional networks, and creating a reputation that aligns with personal and professional goals. Through discussion, reflection, and simple exercises, attendees will leave with actionable steps to strengthen their HR brand and network.

  Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the key components of an authentic and effective professional brand.
  • Leverage their professional brand to support career and professional goals.
  • Apply strategies to increase professional visibility and influence within their organizations and professional communities.
  • Develop networking approaches that foster meaningful professional relationships and expand professional reach.

  
  

  Kay Schroeder serves as the Vice Chancellor, Human Resources, at North Central Texas College.  In her role, she oversees the Human Resources, Payroll, Title IX, and Public Safety departments.  Prior to joining the college in 2017, she held leadership positions in the financial and manufacturing industries, and owned her own HR consulting firm. 

  With close to 30 years of HR experience, she holds both her SHRM and HRCI certifications.  She is an alum of the University of North Texas, and earned her Masters of Jurisprudence in Labor and Employment Law from Tulane University.
